Slang Dalam Ham Radio atau Radio Amatur

Di sini saya ingin kongsikan beberapa perkataan yang biasa digunakan semasa perbualan oleh penggemar Ham Radio ataupun Radio Amatur. Jika anda perasan, saya juga biasa menggunakan beberapa perkataan di dalam entri post-post yang lepas. Jadi mari kita sama-sama kenali serba sedikit ‘slang’ di dalam Ham Radio/Radio Amatur.

-rumah besar = masjid
-saltmine – tempat kerja, Cangkulan = alternative to Saltmine? or isit to tell others, going back to work
-Jaringan = roadblock
-Penguin / Dugong = Polis / JPJ
-Kuda besi = Motosikal
-Gajah putih = Kereta
-tin can = kereta
-Jalopy = kenderaan, vehicle
-Kotak hitam = Rig, Mobile
-Cukai Tingkap = Tol Plaza
-ubi kentang/kentang/potetoes = PTT (push to talk)
-rubber duckie = antenna getah
-budak kecik = handy
-susu = bateri
-Lalat hijau = Icom’s V8 handheld radio.. its green mah…
-Fundamental, oscar tango = parents, ibubapa (orang tua)
-harmonics = anak2
-YL = Young Lady – awek? Hehehe…
-XYL = ex YL, Wife

-base = rumah
-Loceng Terbang = Ada call masuk kat Handphone / mobile phone —–>>(Just say it a LimaLima or your handphone.. harmless right?)
-Lima Lima = Land Lines, telephone (should be fixed phone lines)

-QTH = ur location, some people refer it to their home, which I prefer to use “base station”.. maybe a lot of hams operate from their base, so they get used of calling their base, a QTH. dunno..

-Round table = having breakfast/lunch/dinner etc
-88 = Love and kisses… rarely said, once in a while if a YL is around.. normally said between siblings, lovers, hubby-wife, or in d family..
-eye-ball – real-life meet —->> it is suppose to be an “eyeball QSO”, but these days all call it eyeball alone.. eyeball alone is biji mata je.. betul tak??
-contact perdana – first time contact on air… of course everybody knows this, just for the record lah

Horizontal = sleep —->>(Better say sleep, I think)
Vertical swimming = shower —->>(Again.. must we use all in codes?)

-TangoVictor = television.. (Do we really need to say everything in codes?)
-tango tango = TT, short for teh tarik.. yeah, jaja.. must it in codes?
-mendarat, 73 =reached location & signing off (QRT)
-Tango Tango Romeo Charlie = alternative to TT. Where Teh Tarik and Roti Canai is concerned
-Tango-Kilo’ = heard somebody uses this the other day which supposedly means ‘thank you’,
